Conserva I Tuoi Sogni In Un Posto Sicuro
Francesca Miotti
Hand-woven paper yarn, needle-felted wool, and sequin
36.5 x 20.5 x 7 cm
This piece has drawn inspiration from a practice of the artist in her childhood years, when she used to collect sequins from gymnasts and dancers’ costumes, picking them off the floor after their rehearsals and preserving them in padded boxes as precious gems.
The sequin, an item with no intrinsic value, became a child’s important symbol for their hopes and dreams as well as a reminder of the shift in perspective happening later on in life.
Floating in space in an ethereal woven box and placed on a soft pillow, the composition wants to give the sequin the importance it deserves as well as depicting the purity of a childhood dream.
